Foster is not a bullmastiff but he thinks he is. He is 1/2 Pug and 1/2 Boston Terrier.
We bought Foster from a "breeder" who was advertising "Boston Pugs" in the newspaper. At the time I was interested in getting
a Pug, but being newly married and having just purchased our first home, we couldn't afford the price that Pug breeders were
charging. I saw the ad in the paper and knew there was no such thing and assumed it was a cross between a Pug and a Boston
Terrier, but I was curious as to what this cross would look like. I called the number and asked to come see the puppies.
He said he had one left, but he wasn't for sale - he was keeping him to be a stud dog. I begged the guy to come let me see him,
as I was very curious to see what they looked like. He finally agreed. I had no intention of coming home with a puppy, but
when I saw this adorable little guy - filthy dirty, flea infested and so skinny - I couldn't leave him there to be a stud dog
for his next generation of "Boston Pugs". I made him an offer - cash. Well, money talks and Foster came home with us that day.
I still say Foster was the best $150 we ever spent!
Foster got us interested in training our dogs for obedience. He was such an unruly little munchkin, that we signed him up
for obedience classes at Youngstown All-Breed Training Club. He was a challenge to train, but he definitely sparked that joy of
learning to train my own dog. If I had known at the time that there were venues to compete with mixed breeds, I would have been more
serious with his training. Foster inspired us to want a pure-bred, AKC registered dog so that I could compete in obedience. Our search
for the perfect breed began.....
